Souls in the Void

Are you wide awake, or is something stuck down deep inside

Down where your soul could never reach, where there is nothing you can hide?

Through shattered panes of glassy souls on this plane, and through this haunted eyes

Can anything ever matter here, could you ever not be afraid, of what is keeping your heart locked up, and making you fade away?

 

As I float in the void, I feel all you fears, and as I embrace the darkness, I share all your tears

But somehow I still feel alone, though all my phantoms cry inside of me

I felt the brazen hate of death, my fingers dipped in pools of life and spite

The scorned ashen ways are all left behind, as I run through this world with you

Tattered and blind

 

Nothing has spoken to me for years, I'm so afraid of the voices that whisper and

All the madness that will scream, all these tormented souls just want out of me

I'd give anything to feel the gentleness of the wind, or the softness of grass and tree

I want to walk on cool sands, but this hopelessness razes me for all eternity

 

What did I do so wrong to be so cold and alone? What did I ever do in this soul I call a home?

I have not felt a drip of light for ages, so why does the dragon inside me continue to torture me?

Why can I never be happy, why must you put me in chains? I loved you all these years, yet you never loved me the same!

I spit out cold, darkened ashes, and blood tears flow to my chin

I beg you could leave me in peace, yet your smile hurts me again!

 

I want have a voice and a soul so I may put to rest my weary shattered bones

Let me out of this grave before my mind grows cold

Just get out of my sight, and leave me alone, because I simply don't want to see you anymore.

You've done enough, and I can never let go, because what you took from me in the end was my very soul.

Amazing, it would be cool to see this forum's poetry in book form for oblivion. And again this stuff is amazing.
