Companions revive player

So, there's a lot of games out there that have a revival system that let you bring back friendly players from the edge of death. and in fallout, you can do that for your companions. but why is it that companions won't do it for you?

I don't know about the rest of you all, but I hardly ever give my human companions stimpacks. mostly because I never feel like I'm in a situation that they absolutely need them (They don't stay dead and I'm the only one who uses them in a way that's conservative). but if my companion could feasibly stimpack me, instead of me dying from a shoulder graze, or in survival mode, or if I just stimpacked myself seconds before being grazed by a "nearly fatal" bullet maybe I alone can prevent dying all-together.

This probably isn't gonna work till the CK but... hey? now it's bouncing around in other people's heads?

I was thinking about this as well, maybe making the player essential and using the script to down them and put them in 3rd person when they are down like companions do when they are down (script for them I mean, it exists, we already know) But idk how it'd work, haven't put much thought into it.

it's probably easier to create some kind of spell effect that activates at 0 health. I don't know if negative health is a thing, but like, if you aren't over-killed the "Downed" spell effect would activate. and that would make you take no additional damage. then some scripting magic?

I want the player to die. I just don't want him to die quite so easily. I also like the idea of companions that die. it makes the world feel all the more real. makes the role playing more immersive. I'm itching to have that moment where my companion is like

"Damn it. Don't die on me! not like this"

which unfortunately would mean that we need people to re-voice characters. but hey, I can dream right ? :P
