Special abilities no longer present?

All of a sudden, my Rangers won't Slash and my Specialists won't hack. The icon is there to Hack, but nothing happens. The Slash icon has disappeared altogether.

 

I have been messing about in the .ini files, but haven't changed anything that ought to have affected the class skills.

 

Anybody else have something like this happen?

First, delete all the ini files in My Documents\...XCOM\XComGame and load a game (you have one right?) which had no mods present. Is this working? If not then verify your game cache from the steam library screen. Second, you mentioned messing with ini files that "should not" have any effect; OK, but try unsubscribing/resubscribing all the mods and see if that fixes the problem.

 

Third, if there is an actual mod conflict, unfortunately there is no good way to track this down once you have all these mods installed. Normally I suggest try disabling half the mods; but of course then your game won't load. You could try one of the mod removers from steam workshop, but do note their comments about backing up your save games first.

 

Let us know if you find some technique that helps, or if one of these techniques solves the problem.

Thanks. I ended up having to do a fresh install and added the mods one at a time. (I didn't have an unmodded save).

 

No issues now, but I haven't messed with any .ini files, either.
