Proximitus
I was wondering if someone was willing to make a mod that adds some clothes to the schoolhouse in Goodsprings! I'm talking about a Bounthy hunter dusterAuthority GlassesRanger Brown hat It's my default courier outfit, but I want to have it from the start of the game, so I always use the console to add them, would be more fun just to find them in the school. It's that I can't handle the GECK, otherwise I did it myself.. Greets!
Moraelin
Why not make it yourself? As they say, if you give a man a fire, he's warm for a day, but if you set him on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life ;) Err, I mean, if you learn how to use the GECK, you can then do such stuff yourself when you get your next idea for an outfit. In this case you first need to get the 1.3 version of the GECK from http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/downloads/geck.php Start it as admin (so you can save in the Data directory), load just the FalloutNV.esm master file. I'd teach you how to add a new container, but in this case the school has plenty as it is, so we can skip that. Find the interior map for the GS school house in the lower-right window, double click it. Lucky us, it's actually called GSSchoolHouse, so no problem finding it. Now the problem with editing things from here is that the contents aren't stored here. The game has a list of containers, complete with their contents, and then each map places copies of them, again complete with contents. So you could have, say, a box of ammo with 50 rounds, and place copies on several maps that also always have 50 rounds in them. Changing the master always changes all copies of it places. So basically if we don't define a new container, but just add your uniform to an existing container definition, then all copies of that container will suddenly sprout your uniform. So we'll want a unique container. Luckily the school already has a unique container: that safe. Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Pinky? ;) Scroll the list to the right of the maps list (assumind you did double-click the school) and find the LootSafeGoodspringSchoolhouse entry. Right-click, choose Edit. Hit the "Edit Base" button at the top-right of that popup window. This edits the definition of that container. Now, leave that window open, and look in the window to the left in the tree for the armours, then find the ones you want. Simply drag and drop them from the list into the contents list for that safe. Might take two tries, as sometimes you get a selection box when dragging or The Atom knows what else, but ultimately it's as simple as dragging and dropping. While you're at it, for each item you can also define the condition (it can be a half-rotten duster, after sitting there for 200 years, if you want to) and how many of them will be in that safe (e.g., if you want to dress your whole squad of companions) in dusters. Hit OK. File -> Save You can't modify the master file, and it would be a pretty bad idea to modify FalloutNV.esm directly, 'cause that's a recipe for shooting yourself in the foot. So the GECK will ask you to save an esp plugin that contains just your changes. Pick a good name for your mod, and save it. Congrats, you just made your first mod. Proximitus
You make it sound so easy! Not that much time on my hands, but definitely gonna try it when I do! Is it possible to modify existing mods like this to? Because I downloaded the broken butterfly gun mod, and I really like it! Downside is that it doesn't do as much/slightly more damage then the ranger sequoia (I was looking for such a gun). Was planning to use that weapons troughout the whole game. So, I'm wondering if I could modify the weapons damage :) (As this is only for myself, I don't think I need the creators permission, correct me if I'm wrong!) GuerillaWarlord
You don't need the creator's permission for a personal mod, and it is quite easy to do in the Geck just find the weapon (search 'Broken' or 'Butterfly' or something) right click edit and the rest is simple you can edit everything about the gun from that menu. MRG
Proximitus, I made you the mod you were asking for. It's located inside the old school in Goodsprings. I attached it to this post, but if for some reason it does not work, I also uploaded it to the below link. Either click on the link or copy & past it to your browser. There were a couple different hat styles that I added for you to choose from. I did not edit any of the items stats. They are stock. I can change that if desired though. Extract the file & copy it to your data folder. I only used the Vanilla game as a master file, so no worries if you don't have either of the DLC's. http://www.mediafire.com/?x3cvghvyzbz4nd1 Let me know if it's what you wanted & Enjoy! p.s You'll need to be able to open "Easy" locks. I did this so you would get a small xp boost to go along with the stuff. If this is a problem, let me know & i'll remove the lock. -MRG Edited June 6, 2011 by MRG
Proximitus
Thanks for the effort MRG, but I managed it myself! Also edited the stats of the broken butterfly! Not so hard as I thought it would be ;)
Moraelin
Aye, kudos to Bethesda for making it this easy. Their modding tools are some of the easiest to use.
