Deleted4610270User
My Fallout 4 Textures folder is huge - 32GB. When I set uGridsToLoad=9 loading several areas (Urban areas - Pickman Gallery) results in CTD and Windows telling me my PC was low on memory. I verified that. Indeed, when those areas load, 14GB out of 16GB of RAM is used, BUT once the game has loaded, only 7-8GB of RAM is used. I have NOTHING in the background, no AV's, no 3rd party services, and my PC is highly optimized. Here's what did not work:- Changing/resetting INI files and/or settings- Disabling all mods (so load order doesn't matter at all)- Loading other areas and re-loading the problematic areas- Adjust Page File to any size- Using or not using ENB and/or ReShade- Trying different drivers- De-clocking CPU and GPU and RAM- Removing all Materials and Meshes folders + sub-folders What did work:- Lowering uGridsToLoad from 9 to 7, which reduced RAM use from 14GB to 8GB during load times.- Leaving uGridsToLoad=9, but removing Textures\SetDressing folder - VERY WEIRD. I can remove all other Textures sub-folders and the game will continue to run out of RAM when loading those areas as long as SetDressing folder is present. I thought that maybe there were bad memory-leaking textures in SetDressing folder so I began isolating sub-folder by sub-folder and then file by file, but the game still would not load and crash unless I removed the entire SetDressing folder. Has anyone else come across the same exact issue? It doesn't make sense that a single SetDressing folder (4.5GB in size) makes the game use 14GB of RAM when its loading with uGridsToLoad=9 and then only 7-8GB of RAM once the game loaded. You might think "yeah it makes sense, extra 4.5GB worth of textures needs loading at higher uGrids value!", but then why the hell would removing the other 27GB worth of custom textures (Landscape, Terrain, Props, Armors, Actors, etc) NOT fix this problem? Its got to be something in SetDressing folder... Edited March 20, 2016 by Guest
Deleted4610270User
EDIT: I have 50GB free on the SSD which contains the Fallout 4 + all installed mods and 8GB free on OS SSD partition. I set Page File to be Managed by the System, but I also tried to manually set it to 6.2GB, which did not resolve the issue I am having...
seekingthesun
Bethesda is well known for memory leaks. Mods certainly won't help
ShadowGearX
Check your GPU drivers, if you updated to current a quick search will tell you that there is something wrong with them. People seem to be having different issues but for me, my GPU clocks were staying maxed and I was getting low memory messages. Since I rolled back to the 362. nvidia drivers I've had no issues. Just a possibility.
