Witcher 1 saves

Recommended Posts

Hi, not sure whether I should put this in the spoilers section but here goes. How much does the saves from the first game affect this one? I lost all my previous saves in a crash a while back and the idea of having to grind through again isn't too appealing. Even so, I am still very interested so a quick run through is in progress. To that extent, I was wondering what decisions would affect the game in part 2, will only the general decisions like who you ally yourself with, or who did you choose to love and factor in or is every single decision taken into consideration like some sub quest and so on. Just wondering how much I can skip to move on. Another thing, to minimise time, I intend to use talent mods to maximise abilities for a quick run, will that affect the system? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Saves don't affect way too much, but they do have an impact. For example, the path you take will affect you, neutral doesn't seem to have a great impact (at least I didn't notice), but on Order path you meet Siegfried later in game. Not sure about Scoia'tael, don't have that save. Love interests don't matter as you'll still end up with Triss in the game. Not sure about sub-quests though I haven't forced myself on beating every single one of them, will do a replay of EE again soon. Gold also makes an impact, as more you have in the savegame, the more you'll have in TW2, or so many people claim. I don't advise overpowering your Geralt too much as I myself had problems with importing, and savegame editor for some reason breaks the save (can't import). Do note that you will need a savegame at the very end of the game, for my version only the "Order of the Flaming Rose" ones work. Didn't test it on 1.2 patch.

It's pretty lame... you might want to get a new armor soon. Stats: (according to wiki) Armor: 7, Vitality +15, Poison Res + 13%, Bleeding Res + 13%. The imported equipment is weak, but I've kept Aerondight and Raven's Armor to the very end. Other imports are: D'yaebl, Moon Blade, Gwalhir, G'valchir, Ard'aenye. The other savegame impacts are saving or killing Adda, and Thaler (if you don't kill him you get a package from him), not sure about the rest.

The wiki:

http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Save_game_import

covers what the save game import does. I do not know if the article is complete though.

I don't think it is, as the two points mentioned in the first section...package from Thaler and the mention of Adda at the outset, I have had in my game and yet there is no save to import from as my TW1 game is on another HD.

The actual dialogue about Adda is different- I saved her in my Witcher1 import, and the king says something about her and the king of Redania; alternately in a non-import game, he says she is dead.
