fo4edit copy interior cell

Recommended Posts

good day to you all,

I am trying to copy an interior cell CombatZone01 so I can mess around in it without messing everything up. When I open the cell tab in fo4edit (block 8 - sub block 5) and right click to try to "copy as new record" like you do with weapons and such, all i got is "copy as override" and "deep copy as override"

I dont get it can someone help me out?

i think there are no deep copy as new record for cell (and quest btw) coz it needs to copy all child objects too (how it will change ID's? automatic?) with saving all references and dependencies. looks enough complicated?

Do a deep copy as override and then in the new esp right click the cell and select Change FormID. When it gives you the popup it will contain the current FormID, just delete the ID and click OK and it will pop back up with a Proper New ID.

Best Idea is to open cell and select all objects and right click them and copy as new record then change ID in new esp for cell. This will make sure all items have proper new ID.

no big issue. Select the top object and then scroll to last one and hold shift and select bottom one. right click then. :) multi select works great in xEdit

oh man wish i read that a little earlier xD well you saved me the time on the bazillion more temp files atleast.

Now i encountered another problem. Shift multi seclection works perfect but there are 3 nav meshes in there (in the temporary section) that I could only copy as override once again. Got a solution handy maybe?

Thanks for your great help btw.

edit: nvm i just did the change formid again

This is harder then I thought it would be I want the g.e.c.k. ...

I got everything up and running sofar i can coc into my new combatzone but inside glitchy stuff is happening. First of all there are no npc at all and the whole area ist divided by 3 " white walls " like the sky in the qasmoke area. I can walk through them using tcl but not without.

Is there an easy way to fix this or did i miss something?

well You will find a HUGE amount of dependency's... and most of them are tied to the cell or object ID... a fully functional Interior cell will take some work if you plan to restore the NPC's that were in it to begin with. You could easier add NPC's of your own. as for the white dividers i have NO idea. :| if you want send me an ID on the precise cell you made a copy of and i will try to reproduce your workflow and see what happens. I have never seen that one. I wonder if that space is actually more than one cell like a worldspace? The original NPC's are probably in the persistent world cell by the way and tied to the original ID for the cell.

its CombatZone01 in (block 8 - sub block 5) i dont realy care about the npcs they wont be missed if i have to remove them  and you might be right about that more then one cell thing but i dont know. if you could try it out as you said i would be very thankful

Edit: I will probably use the NorthendBoxingGym worked like a charm on that cell. Has to be something with the combatzone

that is one strange cell. I cant even find the references that make those borders. Its like something is missing. a script maybe? It may be that the scripted events at combat zone have it too screwed up to use till we get the GECK to strip it all out. Glad you found one easier to copy. :)
