Unnecessary Violence, spear detection / animation

So UV says that it detects spears/polearms and has you use a special animation, but it doesn't.

 

I am using Mayu's Animation Overhaul, UV is after it in the load order (it's actually at the end of my load order atm).

 

I am also using Deadly Reflexes 5. (after MAO, before UV)

I am also using DMC stylish.(before MAO)

 

any ideas?
