Mobert
I would like to do as much as I can in one playthrough without having to choose a side right now because I haven't been able to figure out who I want to side with yet! I am curious of the following... 1. How far can I go with Minutemen missions before I go "past the point of no return"2. Ditto for Brother of Steel3. Ditto for Railroad4. Ditto for Institute? I would like to have at least have several settlements armed to the teeth perhaps, do a bunch of Brotherhood stuff because the Prydwen is so cool and it's sort of nostalgic to Fallout 3 (sorta...) but I sympathize with the Railroad and Institute as well. Basically I want to go as far as I can go with each faction before having to choose one permanently, does anyone have a guide to which missions I can do without having permanent effects? Thanks! kevkiev
From the "better late than never" dept? There's probably umpteen variations but to give you one, albeit a bit hazy from poor memory, example, I played: Minutemen: up to downloading the institute data and handing it over to Sturges. But rejoined them after being banished from the institute. (Actually, I'm not sure you could say I ever really left the MM.)BOS: up to Blind Betrayal, although I stopped short of handing that quest in to Maxson. And, although I recruited Dr. Li from the institute and started rebuilding Liberty Prime, I stopped short of handing over the last piece of tech (snagged from the Mass Fusion building after I ratted the institute out to the BOS)RR: played the RR up until being banished from the institute (when Desdamona suggested joining the minutemen, I did) Although I built the teleporter with the minutemenInstitute: completed only a few assignments, and ratted them out to the BOS when it came to do Mass Fusion, which got me banished. The above resulted in the MM ending and friendly relations among the RR, BOS and MM, although (and this is a game thing), after exhausting the radiant quests from Desdamona and one more radiant quest from PAM, I avoided talking to PAM again because, after talking as though the BOS had been destroyed, she'd try to give me a quest to wipe out a BOS patrol. (But I could still do BOS radiant quests.)
djangoku
as far as i remember:For MM: just play any quest preston gives you. Until you're NOT an enemy of the Institute, nothing happens. For Institute: Do any quest you find, until you get "Mass Fusion". If you get this, ignore it.For RR: Do any quest up to Underground Undercover. Continue until it sais ""Continue working for Father"For BoS: Until the end of "Blind Betrayal". Only thing you shouldnt do, "Talk to Maxson at the Prydwen" From this point you can save and play all the factions "end"-quests. Sidequests in general do not affect your standing with the factions. You can kill synths for RR, even if they are friendly to you.Never tried to kill Bos for the RR, but i guess its the same?!Never killed any MM, allways charmed them out. robhartman9
I sort of tried to do it all resulting in my highest level character. Your PC just gets too powerful to bother with the small stuff in later stages. I have done the DLC with this character and it was way too easy. Only advantage to running a high level character through Automatron is that there is another full suit of X-01 Mk. III there.
