Alright to start off I don't know how to texture at all. Or add any 3-D models to the game. I am alright at using the CS for Oblivion. Enough that I can make cool quests and unique items. Many of which aren't hard to do, some scripting. I will give you a link.

If you could make the weapon look more oblivionized than just a simple bland color pallete made by some 12 year old after pirating photoshop the day before.

Just a word of advice. If you're going to ask for help from modders, you really shouldn't do it by insulting the modder who made the work. We ARE a community here, so when we see one of us being insulted we tend to think of it as an insult to all of us.-DW

Beggers can't be choosers but I would appreciate help from someone who knows what they were doing.

 

Regardless any and all help is appreciated, if I get the help I desire then when the mod is finished I will pm the link to it. Thanks.

 

EDIT: Also, please, please, make it a 1 handed weapon. So it will be compatible with the spear stance mod. Thanks again.

 

Did any of you Vigilantes below bother to look at and read the mod linked?

 

If anyone had, there is no way the opening post could be construed as an insult to it.

 

In the mod release thread, there is a post from HesBallinOnU (<- I really dislike that username) which puts to rest any misconception about how the requestor feels about the mod, he gives it enthusiastic praise, but it is unusable in the state which it is released.

 

It does not have a plugin, it is not converted to a nif which oblivion needs in order to utilize it, and it has no textures. -myrmaad

I would like to say that if anyone is willing to do this, i am currently working on an improved model of the spear, and will have it done soon.

That's great. But wouldn't you be able to do it yourself. Or are you only able to 3-D model?

At the moment in still learning to 3D model so yes but i will soon be getting in to UV mapping and Textures, but until then I can only 3d model

Well, as much as I'd like to help, I'm not exactly keen on the fact you decided to put down someone's work. Considering the fact you made this request thread, you obviously cannot do better than the person whose work you are dissing, so you have no right to put down someone's work.

 

Modeling is difficult. Trust me on that. Making models from scratch looks easy when others do it, but it takes them a long time and a lot of effort to do that. Added to the fact the person made their own texture, I give them props for it. There are no tools handmade for model creation like this specialized for Oblivion, so when you put down their work, you are disrespecting the fact that they put a lot of time, hard work, and effort into not only learning how to use what are, quite frankly, difficult to use tools, but also the outcome of their dedication and devotion to the mod they made.

 

So, considering my dislike of such nonchalant disrespect towards a modder, I wouldn't help, as I think you would just do the same to me if I didn't meet some vague criteria. Not cool.

It doesn't matter how hard someone works on something, if it isn't good, it isn't good and lets be honest. I KNOW you understand that. Just like small children aren't good at video games. pre teens aren't good at a lot of things that take more practice and skill to do. if you are 12 you probably started 3-D modeling last month. If you are 16-18, then you have probably been doing it for a few years. I request help for this mod. I don't want to be disappointed by children's work. That is why graphics design companies will not hire 12 year olds, you know why? Because most likely, they don't know how to make anything other than some simple 2-color texture with a non-creative name like the "sword of death". Just like you wouldn't want someone who has been known to steal in your home. I don't want someone without experience to work on something that I am going to put a lot of effort in myself.

I'm 18. I've done this for less than 3 months. Yet I'm decent. Skill is independent of age. When I was 12, I'd been modelling for over a year. As well, you ASSUME this person is twelve, unlikely to be so on a 13+ site.

 

Moreover, you didn't make a generic insult, rather, you directed it at someone. Noted by the fact you are asking others to do better but not doing better yourself, the modder you are insulting is likely better than you. If you had insulted him right in the file comments, you'd be banned instantly and permanently. When you insult, your tearing down someone and making negative criticism that gives no proper feedback as how to improve.

 

Finally, if you think the person is so bad, try it yourself. If you can do better than them with what you have, then by all means do so. Put your money where your mouth is. Unless, of course, you wish to indirectly say you are worse.
