3DS Max NifTools -- how do you get the textures imported and showing u

I'm using NifTools for 3DS Max 2009, but I have no idea how to import the textures or get them to show up. I know how to do it in Blender, but the 3DS Max plugins don't ask for a texture path. All I need to do is export an object as an .obj file so I can use 3D painting in photoshop, and blender won't do that, so I'm forced to use 3DS Max to do this. From what I can tell, I have to edit the .ini configuration file, but I don't know how to do this. So if anyone can help me out, that'd be great. Or if there is some way to import the texture into photoshop so that is applied according to the uv map, that would be good. Im modding New Vegas, btw. Thanks Edited by HSovieticus

Huh?

where is the problem?

If I understand correctly, you want to import fallout-textures into 3ds-max and then ... ?

So if you want to render fallout-objects with their textures, then you have to call up the material editor (M button) ... then click the square next to DiffuseColor ...

in the opened window you choose "Bitmap". now you can choose the textures you need.

if you want to open fallout-textures (dds-files) in photoshop ... so you need a dds-plugin for it

I hope this helps

EDIT:

btw

In the material editor ...

you can go to "Maps"... and there you can use bumpmaps, glowmaps etc.

for this theme there are more than enough tutorials ...
