Hello all,

 

good site and nice to learn about modding. It was possible to learn many things about configuring items, levels, orens - taking mutagens, changing outfit and so on... but still I am missing a way to choose a quest right from the beginning...

 

I unpacked pack0.dzip and found out, that all xml.files depend on the same structure, describing the game... even the quest have a singular name for each act... so it might be possible to start at a certain point, each act even without deciding [or faked] with Roche or wiht Iorweth (I hope so)...

 

With the existing mods (changing mutagens, items in shops), with trainer (changing level, talents, orens) all players would be able to choose a white wolf with different abilities, weapons, skills... like a questfight for testing different ways on different scales....

 

It would be nice, to inform me, if someone has an idea how to do it (meanwhile I am playing with faked savegames at different backuppoints)

edit? I guess there will be some possibilities to do this (someone mentioned, that the savegameeditor for witcher 1 is working for the new release, too)... but I am using another method.... just playing with cheat (unvinceable) and not using talents... so I have the correct level and the talentnumber you can reach at a special point... making backups (for example before kayran, before deciding for the roche or iorweth-way... starting in act 2.... both acts with all minor quest.... so I could start for the main quests only... and so on... it has some advantages (ok, you will "lose time")... you learn the region, the possibilities in sidetracks, finding "lost items" or someone given in the other decision (for example... the special sword in act 2 "peacemaker" is at the same location for both ways... in act 3 "deithwen" also.... and so on...

 

In such a way you are able to collect many experiences about the game, the awaiting challenges and you will have always a brandnew startposition (you are able to try out different trees for talents, weapons or strategies)... there are mods for giving ALL merchants ALL items (so don't) hussle for searching the needed one... just start and try a special location oder challenge... and... if you are going back to play in a non modified game you will "feel" you can take every challenge.. even with less talents as the game will give you.... (ok, NOT saying this for the lunatic-level)...

 

It is a special way, playing this game... not from start to target without chance to change.... but sometimes a game has more fun as only the given story.... look for the other mods.... changing combat style, changing values of weapons, poison and so on... the challenge never ends.... and THATS why I am looking for a mod that will give the user an easier way to start at a given point... the most beautiful idea would be.... 1) asking for the quest... 2) modifying geralts skills (talents, orens, weapons and so on)... and then playing... hope someone has an idea for this...

 

I guess I have to stop dreaming... sorry for the long answer... but I love the game...
