ccmechanic2
Both of you fellas E-mail me, I will supply you with the developers version of games for windows live, I t appears your versions have outdated software, The file they are asking you to install from your steam folder is so outdated this system has no idea what to do with it. vcredist_x86.exe)<<< This is a joke and Not needed. DX 9c Is not needed on this OS as 10 rules the platform and it WILL NOT go backward, The dx 9c files are contained in 10 and dx 11 as well, so, this issue is with the graphics draw issue. visual basic 2008 is built in to windows 7. This file I will give to you will install the latest version of live from Microsoft. the setup program requires no log in. It is the same file used by all the online games, the version seen in your screen shot is from 2004 version. very old. This is nuts ! If I had the money, I would go to wall mart or game stop, buy you these games, and send them to you, and If i heard they did not work, I would contact the company CEO and fly his ass to your house to install this stupid game. This just to unreal.....
ccmechanic2
I will post any response I get from Bethesda here, in its entirety. Still haven't heard from them. :armscrossed: Meanwhile, I'm trying to bide my time by playing Duke Nukem Forever. It really makes me miss FNV.... :mellow:Codecs come from games for windows live, from Microsoft. These games need Input.dll, that comes from Microsoft, NOT steam. The version that comes with these games are not compatible with all machines. "Hard wares" ERGO you two as well as others do not know this, Not many know this. I know this so I will get you what you need. Some TV sets have PC enabled, that does not mean all PC's will run the TV set as a monitor, as The TV circuitry must be in the OS data base. If it's too new, it wont be and you will encounter problems. HDMI is just now becoming a standard with PC's and TV's Windows 7 covers a great deal of these equipment but not all, ATI and Nvidea also covers a great deal as well, but not all. Direct draw drivers comes from games for windows live. you have windows 7, you need windows 7 software, NOT XP software, XP software is whats in the game, it was developed on that platform, NOT windows 7. To crash consistently at the same point and no answers any where? Leaves only this. You do not have the correct software installed and steam is not supplying it because the game comes with outdated software. your chasing your tails. That is according to those links they provided you, that's not much help et all
ccmechanic2
I've had the exact same symptoms, with crashing while loading the splash screens. Without fail it crashes at the 'Bethesda' screen. I've never once seen the main menu of this game, this has happen since the very beginning. Please post if any of you find an answer. Thanks everyone, especially ccmechanic2 for your in depth support. I've been lookign through forums for answers but so far nothing has worked. I also have a similar issue with Fallout 3, so I'm wondering if it's some sort of a codec or driver issue.Sent, package ready for you to pick up, this should help, and I would like to know if it does. You very well could have a bug on your system too that changes those files, I had a bug from someplace, it was called "setupS.exe" some kind of ad ware trojen, came in a pdf file of all things, the default windows 7 display driver kept crashing, when it does this, it recovers, and in the recovery window, it has a little wrench, I clicked that, and saw the bug was loading on start-up and embedded in the task bar too. Nasty thing that was. I Goggled the item to find out what it was, to my horror, it got past Microsoft security essentials, PAID version. Avast too, malware bytes also. Still waiting for an update on the report for that bug. Win 7 is supposed to not be so acceptable for those thing's, but, I had it. Horrible system performance was encountered so I knew something was wrong. Nothing caught it. Just when I expanded the pdf I was reading did it show up. Attacking the display driver directly is a first for me. I thought I'd share this because I think maybe a lot of folks have this bug too. several game sites are host to it according to the Goggled search I ran. I don't know how else to scan for it, too new .

reillys_pink_ranger
Here is a screen of my install list. I don't know if GFWL is supposed to show up here or in a list of Windows components. I have the latest GFWL installed. It shows up in my start menu.
