SageRaintree
Deep in the barren wastes sits a very large house, old toys. swings and slides clutter the once well maintained yard and gardens. An old man sits under the covered porch with a shotgun in his lap. He has spotted you as you approach and stands and raises his weapon. He asks what you are after, you reply that you just stumbled upon the place and mean no ill intent. He asks if you have any food or caps, not for him he says but for the children inside. Why would I give the children caps you ask? You don't give the children the caps he says, you give em to me than you take your pick of a child. Now why would I want a child you ask? The old man replies, Many of them has been trained to survive these wastes. Most of them can shoot better than you, can plant a throwing knife between yer eyes at twenty paces, and sneak upon any varmint in the wastes. The old mans eyes gleamed at me, but if you plan on taking one to harm it in some way, I will hunt you down and kill you myself. I sell em cause I can't feed them all, then I use the money to by food for the ones thats left. You walk into the house, children watch your every move, they all appear to be ragged and hungry, you wish you could help them all. Taking an orphan to raise would be dangerous, but letting them all starve isn't a choice either. Will you adopt a child to take on your journey or just walk away. The choice is yours. Not only would this mod help add kids to the waste, but you could also get another companion. And this could help explain where most of the kids ended up. I also thought that maybe you could run into people in the wastes wanting to adopt a child, you could help them find a child to fulfill their dreams. ABSOLUTELY NO ADULT THEMES PLEASE. TheMightyLordSheogorath
Hm...I could be with my fellow orphans again. After rising up to the challenge of coming to America, this part French, part Italian, part Montagnard young man adopted a little girl on Fable III, now he could do the same in New Vegas. And I could be one of the companions...with a crossbow. But seriously now, that story was true, brings a tear to my eye, well the tear isn't true, but the story is. Trailer/Commercial: Announcer: Every day, hundreds of New Vegas orphans flock to the perverted old man's (that's not too adult themed, right?) home in the middle of the desert to find a new home. Adopt Phuong today and he will do many things, like complain about life.Phuong: I Hate You!Announcer: Hit on your female companions.Phuong: Cass, there's a reason why they call me horse **** Henrique.Announcer: And even start fights with random npcs.Phuong: Hey you! Michael Angelo! Your face is funny! Let's make it funnier!Announcer: But don't worry, he comes with his Antique Montagnard Crossbow (Un-removable, no matter what), a switchblade, and his Patrick Swayze trademark Black Shirt, which can be upgraded to a Vintage Perfecto Leather Jacket and 50 lines of un-lip synced dialogue made with a crappy microphone. He can sing to Broadway showtunes, will always say "It's in the water" or "I saw something nasty in the woodshed", alerting enemies when you are trying to sneak. and will help you if you play We No Speak Americano. He's old enough to make adult jokes, but too young to be killable according to Fallout 3 era standards. He's taller than the grown up Little Lamplighters, yet he tells annoying stories just like Sticky. He's said to be mature, but has a more foul mouth than Rose of Sharon Cassidy, Dukov, MacCready, and Desmond combined. He comes with an iPhone 4 that he can use to summon his girlfriend Anusha, who does nothing except help him complain. He will wander off for days at a time, having taken all of your hard earned caps to Vegas and spending them on holdout weapons, only to learn that he cannot enter the Casino unless you also purchase the Phuong's Fake ID, which is currently under development...PERMANENTLY! Adopt your Phuong today. Please...we don't want him anymore, he's scary. Phuong for president...I mean voice actor for the Phuong companion. If I could've been adopted a little later, I could've been one of the Brad/Angelina kids. Edited June 14, 2011 by TheMightyLordSheogorath
SageRaintree
I remember one thing about the ( displaced children) that I met every day is that they sought purpose and understanding. Anything else was secondary. I meant this to be a mod, that in dire times, would show that love is still important to survival. Because if the remaining children can't shrive, what is left. As for the old man, I would say he is not perverted, but a blessing, otherwise why would the children be drawn to him. I meant this to be a mod of happiness and hope, when around me lie my dying brothers.

Sorry about the perverted old man comment, I need to humor myself and the random viewer I hope gets a kick out of it. Looking back at childhood, when you'd hear the word orphan, everybody would make jokes about being a poor peasant working hard for nothing and barely being human. Things like that hurt, not as much as the beating that I'd give 'em, 'specially to the face, after telling 'em my roots. Point is, people can be immature, and expect that with serious subjects. On the bright side, pain makes you tough as bricks, "that which does not kill me shall only make me stronger"...except for Custer, Hitler, Lincoln, Kennedy, Patton, and any other famous military, religious, or political leader that was assassinated or killed. Sorry if I got off topic, "talking" to others besides Ann and my circle is the only thing keeping me from turning to talking to myself already. pintocat
...except for Custard, ...Custard, Custard is a variety of culinary preparations based on a cooked mixture of milk or cream and egg yolk. Custer, George Armstrong Custer (December 5, 1839 – June 25, 1876) was a United States Army officer and cavalry commander in the American Civil War and the Indian Wars. Also, Custer was a d-bag murderer. Back on topic, I think the orphanage is a cool idea. I find it highly unlikely it would survive, with fiends, mutated animals, ghouls, etc.... but if there was a sound rationale for it having survived, I'd like to have it in game. And that's why you shouldn't drink before you type...nah jk, I was just doing one of my 18 hours of day.
SageRaintree
My guess would be that not everyone has had a warm and fuzzy childhood, who better then would know the fear in their hearts, and reaching for a glimpse of hope no matter how small. Cherish the children people, hope that their minds and bodies stay healthy enough to pull themselves through whatever hell we decide to put them in next.
