Kateish
This is my first post. I don't know if this topic should be in here... But oh well... I was thinking of having a go at recoloring to get a taste of what it's like to actually make stuff for Oblivion (Okay so I'm not MAKING anything but you get the idea...) but I have absolutely NO idea where to start or even what to do... I've searched online for some tutorials and come up empty handed, so if anyone could be nice enough to point me to direction of some tutorials or even tell me what I should do to start off, I would really appreciate it! P.S. Weehoo! My very frist post! :D
TheTerminator2004
By recoloring, do you mean retexturing? If so, you will need to get BSA commander, for extracting the .bsa files with the meshes and textures in (sorry, no link), Nifskope, to view the models with their textures, and either Photoshop or GIMP, to actually edit the textures. If you don't already have photoshop, then get GIMP here, because its free. If you have photoshop, you'll need to get hold of a dds plugin- I think nvidia made one, try searching Google. When you have all these, there is a great tutorial on the CS wiki, here. Its quite in-depth, so be careful. Well, have fun :)

Dave_91
I recommend a program called CrazyBump for making the normal map. IMO, it's much quicker and easier than the Photoshop filterer.
