PlaneSpaceWalker
Hi guys, I recently downloaded the ol' new vegas configator and was tooling around with it. I ran into the arguably booby trapped "load grid" setting, cranked it up to 11 and gave the game a spin. FPS dropped by about 10 frames and I went to revert the change, only to crash when the game tried to load in. I don't know, from what I could gather the save game is attached to that load grid setting. I loaded a much earlier save and it ran smooth. tl;dr Is there a way to edit a save file's ... saved configuration settings? I'm just trying to salvage the save. Seems like it would be simple, I just don't know where to begin. Thanks in advance folks, if I can clarify the issue let me know, it is a bit confusing. DeadScar
Not possible without hardcoding the save file itself, and that is risky as it can lead to corruption. if the save file is an autosave, go to the saves folder, and you'll see autosave.fos.bak This is an autosave backup to your last autosave. Just erase the .bak and overwrite the normal autosave to initiate that save file (just remember to make a back up of the autosave that u are overwriting if this is not what you wanted)
marharth
If its a issue with the mod you can use FOMM to uncheck the file from your save, and reload your save file without the mod.
blove
If you are using NVSE, open Fallout.ini, set uGridsToLoad=11, save but keep the file open, load your affected save, alt-tab out to Fallout.ini, set uGridsToLoad=5, save the file, tab back to the game, at the console enter "con_RefreshINI" without the quotes, save your game from the main menu, exit the game, and then try loading your new save. I have heard of it being done in Fallout 3 but never had to try it. I did try it in Fallout New Vegas before I replied. It always crashed right after refreshing and saving, but the new save did work when I reloaded it. Whether or not it is complete and sound...no guarantees, try it at your own risk.
