IronRoan
So after 6 years with this E3's announcement and Skyrim trailer, I really want to re-enjoy an experience with Oblivion. I've been an avid fan of other RPGs that use the nexus as a major modding community (Such as the Dragon Age franchise). And I've honestly had a fair bit of trouble navigating through the massive amount of mods for Oblivion. What I'm asking is if anyone has any suggested mods I can use for my playthrough. I'm intending on playing a male character (Which is probably the source of my trouble in navigating through useful mods), and am trying to find mods that give improved male textures, additional races (with male support. As there are plenty out there that are purely one-sided on the female end), or anything else that would make the playthrough more fun. Other additional fan-made content, quests, or whatnot is appreciated as well. My current checklist includes: Robert's Male Body v4, the Custom Race Fix, the Unofficial Oblivion Patch. The biggest issue I'm looking to overcome is my aversion to the character creation. I have an issue where I'm never satisfied with the appearance of my character's face. Usually the nose is too rounded or bulbous for my tastes, the mouth gives the head the sort of shape I'd expect a Neanderthal to have, or the hair clips wrong with the ears. So if anyone can point me to a well designed male-supported custom race or custom texture pack for existing races with amazing presets, I'd be very thankful. crudius
Hmmm? Cant offer any advice on male char's as i prefer Females....purely because of the variety of bodies and clothing.I use the Gender equalization to nerf the vanilla difference. But for gameplay, i would suggest the followiing (dependant on your p.c performance) Better CitiesMMMSupreme MagikaNatural EnviromentsOblivion XP There are too many smaller ones to list...really down to taste.I have a few skill tweaks as i prefer the XP route, rather than the vanilla level system. If you like to walk on the 'dark side' there are some great Dark Brotherhood mods.....i use Dark Brotherhood renewed. Race wise, there are some great custom ones, but im currently playing a Breton for stability.I have found the Companion area a bit hit and miss.Im not a fan of the CM system....as they seem to act buggy around oblivion gates, but there are some stable ones out there. 'Neeshka' is very stable for me so far. Anyway,if you want any suggestion on a particular area let me know.......you have my ear citizen ;) Good luck and enjoy. EDIT: Tools! you need them all OBMM,BOSS,OBSE etc....and patches, all the offical and unofficial with the supplements before you venture into modland. IronRoan
Aye. I already have OBMM, OBSE, NifScript and Pluggy as I was toying around with Unnecessary Violence. However, the whole disembodied hands in first person thing really wasn't to my liking so I dropped it. I'll definitely take a look at those that you've mentioned, especially the Dark Brotherhood ones. Are there any mods in particular to make the whole vampire thing flow a little better? By that I mean, something that lessens the amount of sleeping I need to do, and/or eliminates the issue where the sun may come up in the middle of a fast-travel, killing me instantly as I arrive at my destination. (Also I'm pretty sure my PC can run most of the mods with additional polygon counts. I'm playing Oblivion with the Ultra-High graphic settings without a hitch. So if you do have any recommendations to make the whole aesthetic feel of the game more pretty, feel free to list them).
crudius
In that case, give Better Cites a go.Really brings I.C and the other towns to life. There is one to rebuild Kvatch, which i really like the idea of....but when i had it installed, it seemed very 'crashy'Im running on a new build (sounds like you) I get 30-40 fps in I.C with B.C installed and 60 fps in open country with MMM running increased spawns. There are other texture mods such a Quarls....but i have'nt bothered yet. Im curious on the whole Vampire side of things as i have'nt indulged my potential bloodlust as yet....but there does seem to be a lot (male and female) available and a lot positive feedback. There are a *lot* of saved games for download that start right after you escape from the start dungeon. Quite a few have attractive characters of all the standard races and then some. I'd suggest searching on "save" in the "file name contains" field. Avoid texture mods and such until you've ascertained how fast your CPU is, and how much memory you've got. And check out The Oblivion Quest List for descriptions and links to a wide range of quest mods, all sizes.
