API for Nexus?

I was wondering if there was some sort of API that nexus has. It doesn't need to have much. It only needs to have data about the mod.

 

The reason why I ask, is that I want to build a type of app that will show mod compatibility. I know MO and NMM can help with this. The idea is to show fixes or how to make them work, as well as letting you know if it will work before you download it. It can also keep track of what you already have installed while browsing.

 

I am also open to opinions on it. I don't know the community too much, as I am probably like many others who just lurk around.
