revolucion09
First of all, hello Im just a new player of Elder Scrolls RPG world, Ive played before games from D&D and such, so i have some technical questions and hope you can answer me: 1) Whats the difference between using a longsword and a dagger, and such things. Because the only difference i see in game is the Attack points they have, why im going to use a dagger if I can use a longsword with more damage, and still increasing my "Blade" Skill? 2) Whats the difference between using a Shield or no, I mean why i am not going to use a shield, if i can still be agile, have speed, better defense and increase my defense skill? 3) Why Im going to use Light armor instead of Heavy Armor, if this last one gives me more defense? And why im going to use neither Heavy or Light armour? 4) What are the Scouts and those kind of agile classes for? They can have good items by trading and stealing maybe, but.. i can drive in with a powerfull mage with no problems, I can drive in a misterious cave with my warrior and he can fight as hell, but my scout dies easy! I can sneak and give a first powerfull strike, but I dont see any use for "Acrobatics" skill or "Athletics" more than running maybe because to run and shot with Bows (in open places). Maybe this could be very good and usefull with a Party, but im always alone in the game 5) Is there a way to "Bash" a Door or a Chest? I Mean for non picklock masters 6) Is there a way to recruit a Party? Better than adventuring alone... I Would like to have 2 or 3 extra men with me I Suppose this is it for now till i have more questions to do, thanks PS: Is there any mod for Mounted fighting, Dual-weilding or Third Person Crosshair? EDIT: Ive found those mods, about the mounted fighting and dual weilding, are they worthy to download? or still buggy? Revolucion09
dipodrsc
1) If I recall correctly, daggers give a better bonus when attacking while undetected while also adding to the sense of being an assassin or thief like class 2) Shields also stun the enemy momentarily when they attack you while reducing the damage you recieve 3) Light armour makes you less detectable than heavy while sneaking 4) Classes like those are for people who don't use brute force or blast people with spells 5) No 6) Not in vanilla Oblivion, though I'm pretty sure that you can get one knight at a time to accompany you around Tamriel if you play with Knights of the Nine
Dave_91
To follow on from what dipodrsc said: 1. Longswords usually swing slower. The only real difference I can think of after what dipodrsc said. 3. Both eventually when trained up max will give the same defense, as far as I recall. And Light armour doesn't weight as much, heh, pretty obvious. If you're a mage, doing without armour increases your magic effectiveness, which is a good boost, so sometimes, depending on the character, unarmoured may prove more use. Povuholo
1. What has been said already, plus that if you enchant your dagger you can hit your opponent with this enchantment more often than when using a longsword, because it's faster. An absorb health enchantment can be very useful, because you can quickly lower your opponents health while also restoring your own. 5: There's a mod: Lock Bash.6: There's a mod: Companion Share and Recruit (The next version is going to be great! WIP Thread) Third Person CrosshairDeadly Reflex (Decapitation, opponents who can flip to dodge attacks, shield bashing, and mounted combat)Dual Wielding (Not 'real' dual wielding. The offhand weapon is used as a shield. But if you also use Deadly Reflex you can do a shieldbash attack with it, which staggers your opponent.) They aren't buggy, but for the mounted combat feature from Deadly Reflex you need the 1.2 official patch. If you have the Shivering Isles expansion you already have this patch installed I think. revolucion09
Thank you, about the Shield using or not: You told me that the shield gives better defense and stuns the enemy, not having a shield has a bonus or something?

shadow sun
1) not much point in using a dagger since they took out the short blade skill out, apart you can hit faster, although the reach isnt too good. 2) using a shield can increase your block skill, increase your armour skill (heavy or light) and if you block sucsesfully your enemy may stagger allowing you to get a few extra shots in. 3) light armour is called light armour because it is light and therefore allowing you to carry more loot from caves. 4) these classes are for people who prefer the stealthy approach or like using a bow to pick off targets from a distance rather than just running straight into battle. 5) no there isnt but there is spells and scrolls that do similar things. 6) by finishing the mages guild quest line and the darkbrother hood quest line hope it helps:p
