Retexturing Armor Problems

EDIT: I have solved the problem, but I'll leave the text here so that others can use it if they have the same problem. I was saving with the setting "Use Existing MIP maps," which for reasons I will not go into was causing the image to be halved. By saving with the settings "No MIP maps," the problem was solved.

I've have been making a new set of armor by copying the models of the dwarven armor, retexturing them, and then creating new armor objects using the new mesh. I've been doing on the brute work in Photoshop, and then using nifskope to change the texture files of the mesh. I retextured the cuirass as a test, and saw that it was working. I subsequently retextured the rest of the armor and after a small mishap in which I accidentally assigned each mesh's texture as itself, I got the full suit of armor to work in-game.

I soon noticed 2 problems, however:

First, the texturing on the greaves seems to have failed. The place in which this is most obvious is the back part of the fabric walk around. Normally, the texture comes down in the shape of a V across the mesh. Once I apply my texture, however, it ends up being straight, leaving a triangle of untextured space and causing a lot of stretching and distortion. I know it is my texture because while I have the mesh open in nifskope, I can change back and forth between my texture and the original and it will be fine with the original, but distorted with mine. The textures, however, are identical when opened in photoshop (except of course for the color.) I am stumped by this one.

Second, there are strange dark lines on the armor in-game. It is particularly noticeable on the helmet, where I have added a glow map to the eyes and the dark lines cover part of the glow, making it noticeably less bright in that area. This anomaly is not present in either the glow or the base texture.

EDIT: I have discerned the reason for what appears to be both problems, but I can't find a way to fix it. When I export a picture from photoshop to .dds, for some reason the new image is half the horizontal size of the original, and the right half is completely missing. I have tried everything I can think of but I cannot get it them save correctly. This is happening to every texture I export.

Thanks for your time.
