Kinda new to mod'n

Ok,

 

Well I use to hang around and was learning to mod. That was almost 4 years ago now. I went to school and got a degree and learned the programs 3ds max, photoshop, and mudbox in the process. What I need help with is some links to tuts for the whole process of taking a new mesh from max and getting it into game. Lots have changed and many things are out of date. I'm using 3ds 2010 and have nifscope and the plugin needed for max but thats as far as I have made it. Do we still use the civ4 exporter or has nifscope progressed enough to handle it on it's own? Well long story short, please link me any and everything you know of that is still relevant and related to mod'n using 3ds.
