devinpatterson Posted April 1, 2016 Share Posted April 1, 2016 So they have a new ammo form the 7.62×39mm. I think the closest match to stock FONV ammo is the 308. It's roughly the same caliber (7.62×51mm NATO and .308 Winchester can be used fairly interchangeably), but shorter (12mm). I'm not a gunsmith, but with all the crazy modifications going on in teh fallout world, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a enterprising wastelander could do a little modifying and convert the AKMS to fire 308. Would you like to go with .308? It would be an upgrade to teh 7.62x39 ammo, has quite a bit of kick and a lot of different ammo types to craft. I'm also assuming this is a unique weapon, since there wasn't much in teh way of combat operations by russian forces in the US mainland. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The original author had the wrong reload animation (auto M) and an incorrect node for that animation. So it requires a new nif as well as an esp edit. I don't have time to try it out for more than a minute or two, but I suspect you'll have fun with more in depth field testing in the Mojave. Yeah it's no problem to remove the stock. Here is the new model, just unrar it and drop it in your "Data\meshes\weapons\2handautomatic\ak\akms" to override the model in teh BSA. But you should know it will still be the same distance from teh shoulder. There may or may not be a grip that has it closer to the shoulder for the size and shape of that model. On the other hand you may be happy with that distance, you wouldn't want it resting against your shoulder anyway since it doesn't have a butt plate (or even a proper butt). Yep, as I stated in my first post on page 1; It has open permissions, if you want (and I have time/inclination) I could probably strip it out for you, and package the mod as just the AKMS. I just don't know if it's still a pretty active mod and if a lot of people need for it to be fixed. I'll have to look at the thread, simply haven't had time to browse through it yet.
