Small Animation problem

Hi! I've been working on a crossbow mod for a while now and one thing people have really been wanting to see is a certain animation play on Human NPCs when they are hit with a particular bolt. I've looked through the forums and on the Geck main site for days now and I can't see to find anything about this topic at all. Is playing an animation when shot even possible or are you just not able to do it because of some Geck limitation? Any answers i could get for this problem would be awesome. I've been considering the necessity for 'finishing move' or final kill animations for unarmed and melee attacks - tho i don't know much about geck - i realize that there are critical hit animations for every body region and criplle animations for every body region - the PROBLEM being that these are NOT scripted to weapon type that I know of - meaning I don't THINK the cripple animation differs from melee to projectile - What is interesting is that there are two sets of animation for each body part such as severed head and explode head - so I'm wondering if one of these can be replaced or whether the game will crash if you try to replace the dismember head animation with a customized version such as your 'shot in head' animation - mainly because the game may be looking for a severed head on the floor when which your custom animation may not supply - The two biggest problems are that 1: if you CANNOT add new critical or crippling or dismemberment animations specifically scripted to a new weapon type, that means you will have to REPLACE the existing ones meaning that ALL weapons will play your animation even if I attack him with a baseball bat.

 

Bigger problem number 2: You will have to contact Bethesda developers directly and they are obviously effing busy with Skyrim, but they WILL KNOW if it is possible to script different cripple/critical/dismember animations to different weapons - the problem being if they CAN - WHY DIDN'T they do it? And if they know how and modders figure this out - it will make them look either lazy or incompetent when private modders start releasing cool customized fatalities and matrix Smackdown ufc style finishing moves for every weapon - so they would essentially be arguing to create more work for themselves or be replaced by people who will do the work . . . so the OFFICIAL ANSWER from both Bethesda and Obsidian is NO it is not possible due to limitations with the Geck :)
