Simple Load Order Essentials mods help

Recommended Posts

Hi there folks. I splurged on mods and messed up my game. I've installed new vegas back from square one. I wanted to know if anyone has a simple, essential mod list and load order they'd suggest for playing the game as an enhanced of core, not totally different.

Right now the mods I deem essential or very important are:

MTUI, Electro lights, Fellout, Community Bug Fixes, Weapon Mods Expanded, Bounties, Burning Sands, Shilo's Pipboy gui mods, New Bison (not essential essential, but I like it a lot) Willow companion, more perks. I use fomm, boss, and merged patch with fnv edit to get things working, but I admit i dont always know what im doing.

How do you mean messed up your game? As in it wouldn't load the menu? Crash on startup or repetitive location crashes? I'm getting away with a tonne of mods at the moment, you just have to decide which ones you don't mind being overwritten in certain ways (obviously a merged patch will fix most things such as form IDs and leveled lists) Generally my rule of thumb goes

FNV

Add on areas (obviously none that conflict with location)

Weapon mods

Gameplay mods (like XFO s stuff)

Fixes (Purge cell buffers, better game perfomance etc)

My personal change mods

Weather mod (fellout nevada skies etc)

I set the weathers last (even after my mods and merged patch, of course if you included the weather mod in your merged patch then it goes after) as some mods make slight changes to areas which can screw custom weathers for that location.

Also check through your merged patch in FNVEDIT to make sure that it didn't encounter errors and what not. The merge patch will stop suddenly at any point it finds an error, but will still give you the half completed patch (with parts missing). If you can't make a merged patch without getting an error (its been like that for me for ages now) just tick off the less important mods and keep trying to merge patch until you get one with no errors, you should be able to get most (if not all) of your important mods to merge. From there its just a bit of load order sorting (boss doesnt work 100% of the time, but it is good for the known ones)
