clintster74
I am currently working on a large mod that will include a new bar. In real life the bar uses a 30_06 round not a .308. I can make the new round by re naming the 308 and its hollow point and armor piercing variants and giving it a new id. But the GECK will not let me make a new ammo list or edit an existing one or more likely I’m just going about it the wrong way. Can any one helpClintster74
drakeelvin
NVGECK -> Miscellaneous -> FormList Just right click anywhere on the list of forms (Editor ID portion of the window) and select "New" from the drop down. (If you edit an existing form from this window, GECK also lets you create a new form by changing the ID within the existing form, or you can use the drop down. I'm not sure what method or route you were trying, but these should definitely work.) Edited June 19, 2011 by drakeelvin

drakeelvin
Ah, I see. When I add ammo to a form list I have to open the form list for editing then go to Items->Ammo and drag and drop my ammo onto the form list window. The only other way I know to do this is within a script: AddFormToFormList <FormListID> <AmmoID> I only use scripts to add to existing form lists for compatibility, if it's my own form list I just populate it with drag and drop. Hope that helps.
clintster74
Drkeelvin Thank you the drag and drop worked I would have never thought of drag and drop to add to list. now I hope there is no problems with adding this all to the game but now the m1918 bar will fire a 30_06 round like it should. Kudos given
drakeelvin
Thats great news and thank you! One thing about GECK, I guess it has evolved over the years, is the context editing of different objects is different, there is no one formula for manipulating every type of object in terms of add/edit/delete. There are a number of different methods so it comes down to a steep learning curve to absorb all those unique methods. The latest one I figured out was how to rename a cell I had created. I tried right-click and double-click then after going to the GECK tutorial I found out you have to use exactly one click or F2 then it will let you rename it. You have to have a lot of knowledge of all the special rules, maybe GECK was designed by payroll accountants :D Edited June 20, 2011 by drakeelvin
Gribbleshnibit8
On the other hand, why not just use CaliberX instead. It has the ammo you want, and it's already set up to be added into the game relatively easily. With full documentation on how to do it. This way you also maintain compatibility with other mods, and actually makes making your mod easier.
clintster74
Gribbleshnibit8As for caliber x I used that mod in fo3 as well as crossmoddata to get everything working right. One of the thing I dislike is a mod that is depended on other mods to work I try to make it simple for the user (who in most cases is not a moder). And I have not seen any weapons using the 30-06 round,
Gribbleshnibit8
Alright. I was just pointing at potentially useful stuff. As a side note, spoken from the point of view of the downloader. I generally look for mods that use common resources (as CaliberX). For one, I have compatibility, and two, once it's there, I might as well look for other mods that use this master I've already got. Therefore, I'm more likely to download mod using said master (ex. CaliberX). Just my two cents worth is all.
drakeelvin
What is the state of CaliberX these days? Once I asked to contribute something to that and got turned down even though my round was not in there. Since then TBH I've paid no attention to whats going on with it.
