I can't get a lot of mods to work on my computer. I think it had something to do with windows vista. I really want to download new race mods but none of them seem to work. Does anyone know how to make these mods work?

i can make sure i did it right, but most of the downloads say that it's supposed to be in a folder with more than one file. and when i download it, it's just one file and no folder. it could just be a bad download or something but idk.

Its a compressed file. They stick all the files into one big file, so you only have to download one file. The type of file is normally either a zip or rar. Both of them can be "extracted" with the use of some freeware. Google Winrar. It does both and its free.

some of them are RAR files and they usually work but most of them are "7Z File" and idk how to get those to work. i can try google winrar and see if it works.

Winrar opens .7z files, and most every other type of archive, there should be no reason why it wouldn't allow you to extract the files you need. However, you may wish to take care with what mods you do install. since Vista is much more resource dependant than XP, you should probably refrain from using any of the larger mods, or more than 50 smaller mods unless you have more than 3-4gb of ram. This is because everything in use by .esp file requires being stored within the ram, and it you don't have enough of a buffer, you will run into serious problems. This is in addition to the countless other issues Vista has with virtually everything.
