Drop Items or Delete spells

How do you drop [on PC] unnecessary items or spells. Perhaps, a permanent collection of "How to's" could be placed at the top of the page.

I know that you can either right click on the item in your inventory or just put the item that is unwanted and just put it in a random container. :l

Not sure what you mean by "unnecessary items", but most items in your inventory (F2 key) can be dropped by holding "shift" and clicking on the item in the inventory list. When you exit the inventory screen the item will drop.

Some items in inventory are attached to a quest and cannot be dropped, but a utility mod called COBL allows quest items to be dropped or placed in a container or there are mods that allow quest items to be dropped. For the mods just search "quest item" and you'll find a number of them.

 

For removing spells (F3 key) from inventory either use COBL which permits spells to be deleted or there is at least one mod that allows you to delete spells from your spell inventory on the Nexus - just do a search for "spell delete".

The best method is to put unwanted items into a respawning chest, or a dead npc body. That way they'll get automatically deleted after the cell is reset (usually 3 game days) and not waste any unnecessary savegame space.

The 'unnecessary' is junk that accumulates over the coarse of the game that I can't seem to get rid of. I tried COBL but it requires mods which in turn require mods and I end up with eyeless people. The link is a dead end and it is still another website that has to be hunted down. Having a 'How to' set up on this forum with contributions from members who've been there and done that and know all the tricks of the game would be a lot better. I will try the F2 and Spell Delete

Now as for spells, beside CS mod merge [lockup/CTD], is there a way to share spell/abilities across race mods?

I noticed the other day that Wyre Bash has a spell delete feature on its Saves page.

 

As for race spell merging, you could just manually add said spells to each race in the CS. However, I'm not sure if it'll work if you're currently playing as that race (I tried to add powers and passives to the Moonshadow Elves due to me not liking the script effect ones and I still had nothing when I entered the game).

 

As has been mentioned, you can drop items by just shift+clicking them or leaving them in a random container. You can also drop stuff and be holding it when you exit the menu by holding down your left mouse button on the item and dragging it off the menu to the right.

The F2 key works for items, modifying in CS just causes freeze/CTD after copyright page. Can't get Spell Delete mod to work. Edited June 21, 2011 by FireBug1
