Companion using HandToHand over other Melee

I have my companion scripted to always have lower hand to hand than she has Blade and Blunt. ( I have it set to like .65 of her blunt and blade which are always the same as each other. Despite this, every now and again she starts only using handtohand when she's using melee. She still uses staves and bows just fine when she makes the decision to use ranged. If I do a kill and resurrect in the console it fixes her only to pop up again later on at random. Any ideas what might be the cause? I have no idea what might be the cause, my companion's scripting my load order, Oblivion being weird in general. I'd like to know whether I have/haven't forked something up coding my companion that's causing this problem, but bad as my scripting abilities are I don't see how it's something my code could be doing. The companion in question is my Minerva Companion, but I'm about to test another companion for a while and see if it pops up with them. I have been away for a while, and I can not remember what companion bugs are specific to Oblivion compared to what's in FO3.

This is just a wild guess here, but could it be that your companion's weapons are being damaged in combat to the point where hand-to-hand is actually more effective and therefore the weapon of choice. Kill and resurrect might be resetting the weapon health.

Nah, I gave her an undamaged chillrend dagger and she wouldn't use it. It's just weird the items are in her inventory and she uses bows and staves fine but not blunt/blades. I'll do getav checks on her blunt and blade and unarmed and unarmed is the lowest of the 3 but she uses it over high end enchanted weapons. I'm beginning to think it's just some sort of weird corruption in my saved game.

 

Edit: Must have been my saved game. I can't seem to get it to happen in my new game.
