My biggest gripe, story-wise, by far

When playing the Dawnguard questline, and I have to seek out the Moth Priest, I am sent to Dragon Bridge to ask about him.

Now, by far the most common way to Dragon Bridge is to approach it from the South by Travelling North over the actual Dragon Bridge. Sure, you could fast travel to Solitude and walk South-west but that's not the usual thing.

So I ask about the Moth Priest and sure, he was just here. Left a while ago. I might catch him if I hurry.

Yes. Except I just passed by that spot and...he wasn't there. No Moth Priest. No carriage. No vampires, no fight. And just now I traveled up the same road - going North- he'd be going down - going South- and I didn't see him. But sure, I'll look again.

Oh hey, there's the wrecked carriage. In the spot I just walked past five minutes ago.

This seems such an obvious thing that would have needed polishing. I can overlook a lot of things in the game but this one bugs me a bunch. I feel certain that a more plausible location could have been easily used.

I totally agree. I actually just did that quest today and when you think about it, it's incredibly unrealistic that you missed the carriage, the fight, the vampires and the moth priest. In reality you should have come upon the fight or at least the vampires taking him away. It's a big oversight on Bethesda's part to let a small and also important detail slip through the cracks. If anything having to ask people in Dragon Bridge about the moth priest could have been taken out and instead you could have just come upon the carriage and dead vampires. Then investigated the scene and continued the quest from there.

Or you can just fast travel directly to Dragonbridge.

Like, if I haven't discovered the place yet, that means I haven't really been in the area at all. If so, going by Solitude is probably the easiest way since it's just a fairly short trip down the road, and you can reach Solitude via the carriage if needed. I actually don't think I've done that quest approaching from the south side, so this issue never occurred to me.

Though, it would be kinda funny if you passed them by on the way and then were like: "D'oh! Those guys!"

Unfortunately, there are so many of these same break points all over. For example, after returning to Fort Dawnguard upon escorting Serana Home (remaining human) you run past Vori patrolling just outside the fort, literally right past where she is walking, you come around the corner, going up the hill, just behind the fence and BANG! 3 vampires attack you............They literally spawn RIGHT THERE AND THEN as you round the turn. I'm like How did you get there? Lorewise, it's obviously broken. It's just the wrong location for a Vampire ambush. We won't even bring up that it doesn't matter if it's midday or not.
