CTD Immediately Upon Loading Save

Can anyone think of a common thing I'm missing that would cause a CTD immediately upon loading a save? Like, the game doesn't start to load the save and then crash in the process...I click the load button and boom: immediate CTD.

 

I know I did this to myself updating mods and carelessly messing with my load order last night. :ermm:

 

I downloaded LOOT and had that re-arrange my load order, and still no dice.

 

I can probably fix it if I roll back the mod updates I made last night and load an earlier save from yesterday afternoon, but am trying to avoid doing that.

Had missed this post in Bhaal's Better Sorting, but this fix worked for me:


This is a specific issue with the game engine and was a bug introduced with the 1.3 patch.

If mods are missing when you go to load a save game it is supposed to ask you if you want to load with them in a dialogue box, however, sometimes the name of the missing mod causes the game to crash instead of displaying the box. I had considerable issues with this when I made the 4.0 update and I finally got a naming convention that will not cause this issue when you uninstall it.

That doesn't help you if you already have this issue so here are a few options:
Find the name of your save game file in you My Documents/My Games folder and find the save you are trying to load (Something like this: Quicksave0_2CC7C5A5_54686F6D617320416E646572736F6E_Vault111Cryo_000037_20160330012432_1_2) copy the name somewhere you can read it and leave out the ".fos" Afterwards load the game and open the console (` key by default) and type in. Load <SaveFileName> without the <> around it. This will load the game without checking for the files. Once in the game make a new save and the issue is resolved.
