In depth magic combat

Ive always thought that magic battles were abit flat. aim and hope for the best, and dodge.

What im wondering is, would it be possible to add a little more depth to these?

Things im wondering are

If 2 spells clash in the air, instead of passing each other harmlessly could they react? I.E Balls of magic explode, things like bolts stay on and drain fatigue+magicka until one bolt pushes the other to the enemy, or someone passes out/runs out of magicka and is hit with the bolt, doubling the damage?

Wow that was a pretty mint idea and it might be possible. The possibility of two spells crash in mid-air wouldn't happen very often since The enemy A.I ussualy use a dagger and sometimes cast spells when the combat is out of range , You would have to change the combat A.I of probably every Spell using NPCs in all of Cyrodiil , Also the effects when the spells hit each other (Both the visual and Actor effects) is hard. Since you need to Texture and so the new effects ,The fatigue and magicka effects on the player shouldn't be a problem but it's not a little thing you are asking for. But it's a wonderful idea and maybie we should arrange a group to make this little dream come true.

Also if you like magic and such search after ''Midas'' and download his spell mod , It's amazing.

The ball idea, I just thought making the balls solid somehow and making it like a normal fireball/iceball clashing in the air kind of thing.

That also poses a new idea - when different elements hit different things should happen.

Yeh that' why we need a few new effects. And I think we need a some kind of small explosion what particals a little bit of everywhere when the balls hit each other , without that the magic thing might get a little bit to rusty , And about the spell hit each other...I really have no idea if it's possible to give them the ability to hit another ball.

This isn't possible. Magic is hard coded. You can't change the affects. Also, it wouldn't solve the problem. James is upset that magic combat is boring. Adding in the affect that there is a slight chance of the spells hitting each other won't change it. Magic combat would still be: "aim and hope for the best, and dodge."
