255 Mod Limit ???

I've spent weeks looking for the best mods trying to create the perfect game for myself. I've spent the past day or so trying to figure out why the game won't start with them trying to resolve the "bugs". Ultimately finding out that for some reason it does not matter at all what mod i load {or in what order} as long as i stay below a specific number of mods. If i deactivate any mod, and reactivate any other, it works. If i add just one more {it does not matter at all which one} it stops loading.

I was finally able to track down an obscure google reference to a cap limit on mods of 255 mods. Is this true? Is there any way around this or did i just waste 2 very long weeks downloading mods for nothing?

Try merging some mods.

Merging is one option {assuming the limit does actually exist}, but an imperfect one, still it's an option.

I'd still need to know if anyone is aware of any such hard coded limits {exactly 255 mods} and whether there is any way around it {aside from merging mods}. I mean for example, if you have 255 quests you could not very well merge multiple quests so you'd have that hard coded limit to contend with {again, assuming that unconfirmed limit of 255 mods really does exist}

Has anyone heard of this limit or know anything about it?

Vagrant0 has reported that some mods may use more than one slot. Not sure if he's figured out what types do so.

This is just awful. I've spent weeks downloading quests and new locations, villages, characters and so on to create a beautiful experience. There's just no way in the world i can merge everything into 255 slots. There must be some way to increase the limit somehow.

Mods don't have to be similar to merge them. You could merge a weapon pack and new race. Unless you have a couple thousand mods, it shouldn't be very difficult to merge them.

Hmm, ok i'll play around a bit. I've been reading that you can't merge "large" mods, I've seen comments like, "Quests rarely merge" for example. But i'll play around with it a bit and see what i can cobble together.

I've merged all my "bug fix" mods into a single file and it seems to have worked very well. No errors so far with that {on the little i've tested}, but these are all 2 kb files or thereabouts. Hopefully the larger "villages" and "landmasses" and "clothes and weapons" will fair as well.
