I have an X51 R2 and my blue ray decryption is out of date.

Recommended Posts

The software it ships with is too old, and an updated version of the program downloaded from its official site requires a subscription or money or some other BS. Please help, I need a way to update my blue ray decryption. I am running the Alienware-ified version of windows 7. Thanks in advance.

AACS encryption *should* update if you have a legal/non-pirated/non-trial copy of whatever Blu-ray playback application, but it wouldn't be surprising if Alienware only included a trial version. The only legal option here is to buy the full version of a working application, and if it really is the case that Cyberlink or Corel (or whoever) is forcing you into a new version of an application you already own just to continue using it, I wouldn't honestly be surprised at that either - Blu-ray and HD-DVD playback on PC is (and has always been) a total mess, and you can thank Hollywood and their fantastic DRM scheme for that. Depending on how many BD discs you have, it would probably be cheaper to use Vudu's disc-to-digital service and just get HDX Ultraviolet copies of what you've got and go from there.
