i guess when i tryied to get a mod to work on oblivion i did something wrong and now oblivion wont run

i dont understand the 7z format :( i got the "unzipper" and then exported it to the oblivion data folder and i must have done something horribly wrong

im used to the mods that work with omm and .zip files you just export to the data file :(

any way i can get oblivion to run again?

well, im not sure exactly what went wrong but if you have a nice game that you want to keep heres what i would do, first delete everything that mod put in your data folder, then go into:

my documents/my games/ Oblivion/ Saves

take out your save games put them in a random folder (just make a new folder on your desktop)

then reinstall the game, put your saves back into the save game and try to play, not sure if this will work but, i litterally just woke up and checked my forum thread and saw your "Major Problem" so, give it a shot..

Im not sure how you extracted it, or the way it was extracted, but, if you go into the folder of the mod you installed, and go through all of the folders and simultaneously go through the same folders in your data and CAREFULLY delete each one (carefully as in make sure no other mods are using that folder, by looking at all the files in that folder from the mod and then in Data and deleting the correct files) do that till you got every folder and file, delete the ESP (or esm if its a cocky mod :P).

Ive gotten 7z formats before but i forget how much different they are.

If worst comes to worst though you may have to reinstall the game  and if so take your saves out of your saves directory like i said.

Can also try to copy the Default Ini over into the saves folder and change the name to oblivion.ini

Some mods modify the ini file, and sometimes prevent the game from loading sometimes. It's worked for me.

ok i got it to work although i dont know how the last thing i did was go to data files (when oblivion pops up in the menu theres data files) i unchecked it and it works and i rechecked it and it works that was after i removed the mod files though

i was trying to get a mod that changes all the fake lighting and uses real lights like candles and fire pits to work but i guess i dont know how :(
