Eferas
Hi guys, as you can see from the screenshot, the bullets on my .357 Colt Single Action Army are all messed up. This happens only sometimes when reloading the gun, always in first person and never in third person. Also if the bullets are messed up in first person, if I switch to third person the gun looks fine, but if I switch back to first person it's wrong again. This happens also with other weapons, but it's so rare it doesn't bother me at all. But since this gun is my weapon of choice and I use it pretty often, I need to find a fix for this. I looked for this on google without finding anyone talking about this problem... Any ideas, please?
dubiousintent
Haven't seen this before. If it happens after you have been playing for a while it may be you are running into a "memory leak" issue which is causing problems with your video memory. See if exiting the game and rebooting your system resolves it. If so, you might want to get in the habit of rebooting on a daily basis, or at least before playing. If not, look into your first person animations. -Dubious-
Eferas
Rebooting doesn't fix it, also if I load a save when I know the problem is going to be present, it will be there. I tried deleting all my animations mods, it didn't fix it. May it be a mesh problem?
dubiousintent
My initial thought was if it were a mesh problem you wouldn't see those bullets. But then I recall that animations are called from the mesh, which is why animation replacers typically overwrite the vanilla files so they can use the standard names. Might be worth trying to reinstall the meshes and textures from that weapon's mod. (I assume it's a mod. Don't really pay attention to the pistols myself.) Have you tried restoring the vanilla animations? "Deleting" the animation mods won't restore any files that were replaced. Uninstalling won't either unless your mod manager keeps track of what was replaced and has the vanilla files somewhere. Recall that loose files with a later date/time stamp will override files in the BSA. If you can reliably reproduce from a save game file though, it is more likely to be something else such as a script conflict. I don't believe meshes or animations get saved. -Dubious- Edited April 9, 2016 by dubiousintent
Eferas
Aren't all vanilla animations packed inside the BSA? I'm sorry, I'm new to NV modding (I modded Oblivion, Skyrim, and now Fallout NV). The game has vanilla animations inside the mesh folder?
dubiousintent
You understand correctly about the BSA: FNV works the same way as those other Bethesda titles because it uses the same GameBryo engine (as far as I know; relatively new to the FNV modding scene myself). If you used animation replacers, then you needed to implement some form of "archive invalidation" (AI) to get them recognized. Assuming you have other mods that need the same AI feature, then you can't just "turn it off". So, if they aren't getting picked up from the BSA (preferred solution) you need to extract the vanilla animation files to the correct Data folder path to provide it with the "loose files" it is looking for. (Just one of the many mysteries of how Bethesda implemented their buggy AI system.) A list (with links) of suitable BSA tools for this purpose are under the "Utilities" section of "TESTG" in my signature. I recommend BSAOpt. -Dubious- Edited April 9, 2016 by dubiousintent
