Hi guys, i've been playing on this portable since around the beggining of 2011, and i've played FallOut 3 , Burnot Paradise, TitanQuest, etc.. for fallout 3 and games that require more of the computer graphics i've chosen to run with low graphics, 'cuz if its too high its gets a little slow.. so i've never had a problem until i started playing dragon age origins, in the begining it was ok no problems , and playing a lot of hours, but one day i was playing and the computer overheated and turn off i had to wait a bit and then turn it on .. now a days i've been adding Mods and stuff to it , and it looks like its getting worse, not sure thought. Should i stop adding mods or it doesnt have anything to do it with ?

I've also did a small googling and found out that i have to clean the fan and stuff .. but still gotta learn to do that in the portables..

Regards.

In many portables the fan is under a separate screw on plate that can be removed to clean. If yours does not have that feature, then get a can of compressed air and blow INTO the OUTLET to blow out the dust bunnies. I have also used a pipe cleaner to clean inside - Also now called Chenille Kraft Stems for some reason. Look for them in craft stores. Or maybe a smoke shop that has pipes.

Make sure that you power down and remove the battery first as pipe cleaners do have a metal wire center that will conduct electricity and could short something out.

After cleaning, make sure the fan is blowing properly. And while using the laptop be sure both the air intake and outlet are not blocked. If necessary, prop the laptop up on something to give some clearance underneath for better cooling.

Other than this game being a major hog for system system resources, the number of your mods really shouldnt have anything to do with an issue like this.

Unless you're running mods which increase the graphics. Like improvements to textures and stuff like that, which would make your GPU work harder.

Clean out your vents and fans, and try putting something under the lappy, so that it can get good air. If the problem persists, take it to a tech. They can check the internal fans to make sure that something isn't out of whack inside it.

Thanks for the tips guys they seem very helpful.

If my portable doesnt have that feature, im gonna try to get a can of compressed air or the pipe as you said.

Btw DarkeWolf the mod "DRAGON AGE REDESIGNED" from BiowareWebSite will it increase textures that much ? I was thinking to add it but since u said that i might not .. or just test it first.

Really Grateful for your replys Thanks !!

Reaper- not a problem at all :)

I'll also add that if you're a smoker, do NOT smoke around any computers. The nicotine build up inside of them can seriously shorten the lifespan of the guts. Especially hard drives (Hdd - hard disk drive) and fans.

Dragon Age redesigned- it's been known to cause FPS hits. So yeah, it can make the GPU work more. BUT... more importantly, its incompatible with some of the mods and causes bugs with quite a few others.

If your comp can handle it, I wouldnt recommend using it with very many other mods. And choose it as the prime suspect if you develop issues with new mods that you install.

Again, no problem at all, we love to help out when we can :)
