Questions from a noobie

I'm a vet when it comes to Oblivion, but I'm an absolute noob with 0 experience when it comes to mods.

I've been doing research and educating myself, and after searching google and these forums, I hope you guys can help out with a few questions.

1. After watching an OMOD tutorial, I'm wondering if every mod can be made into an OMOD. For instance, would FCOM and the unofficial patches work with OMOD, and if so, should I install them using OMOD?

2. Mods are overwhelming. I'm overwhelmed lol. Do you have an optimum order in which you install mods onto a vanilla copy of Oblivion?

3. There are so many mods, how do I know the improvements of one isn't the same as the improvements as another. For example I was recommended Operation Optimization, but also Streamline and Stutter Remover, but they seem to change the same things. Is it still a good idea to activate them all?

4. I've been following the s*** JUST GOT REAL mod guide. If I want to install FCOM, should I install it on a fresh copy of Oblivion, even though the FCOM section is like step 3 of the guide?

Thanks

While almost every mod can be made into an OMOD, it's not always a good idea. There are several mods I have run into that don't do well as OMODS, the only one that comes easily to mind is Ivellon. I don't remember exactly why though. I do try to make as many as I can into OMODs though as they are so much easier to remove (not perfect, but much easier)

For some reason, I just have not gotten BAIN to work properly at all - even though its proponents are constantly saying how much better it is than OMOD. My last reinstall of Oblivion I decided to go all BAIN. That lasted through about the first 10 mods installed, then it started crashing on start. I removed the last mod I installed with BAIN and it worked fine, then installed the same mod from the same zipped download using OMOD - and it worked fine. :ermm: BTW, BAIN and OMODs can coexist, but you need to pay attention to which is which when working with them.

Another example of one size doesn't fit all.
