FireBug1
Greetings, im looking for a capable moder that can create a mod that would replace oblivion vanilla races hairs with better ones, like ones from Ren's Hair mod. A mod to replace the hairs and maybe some better eyes as well. Can anyone please create a mod like this ? that would make oblivion so much better! there is only one mod right now that replaces vanilla hairs (Vanilla Hair Replacer), but it replaces them with almost same hair so there is so good as no replacement at all. trag3dy
This? http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16920 As for eyes, that one is a bit tougher I think. But just use the search to find a set of eyes you like. There is probably a merged package for them too. Acid's eyes are nice. trag3dy
Well the only other mod that I can think of along the lines of that would be this: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22787 But it replaces their face along with hair. Probably their eyes, too. That gives all the npcs an anime like look though. Then again, all the links for that are broken. fg109
I'm not really experienced with meshing and such, but I think what you need to do is use some type of Archive Invalidation. You should find the file paths of the vanilla hairs you want to replace, and then rename and place the custom hairs where the vanilla hairs should be. I think you'll need to do it for the .nif, .egm, and .tri files.
FireBug1
@trag3dy looks close but i dont think this will look good with high hgec bodyes and armors, ill look into it, maybe i can cutout all the extra from this mod and see if those hair will fit with vanilla faces. @fg109 yes, that a nice plan, but i have no idea how to actualy do this. fg109
I tried out my idea but it didn't work. Every hair style turned into a bald hair style.

fg109
Well I tried putting the Ren_Hair05M.nif into the Oblivion\Data\Meshes\Characters\Hair folder and renaming it to Style05.nif (the "Natural" hair style) but when I went into the game, my character became bald. I used "showracemenu" in the console and found that all the other hair styles changed into bald hair styles too. I really have no idea why that would happen... I know that there's a .tri and .egm file for each vanilla hair in the BSA archive, but if that's the problem I don't know why changing one hair style would affect all of them. To actually do what you wanted, I had to create an esp with the Construction Set. I opened up the hair menu (Character -> Hair...), selected the Loose (Natural) hair, and changed the mesh to Oblivion\Data\Meshes\Characters\Ren\Hair\Ren_Hair05M.nif and the texture to Oblivion\Data\Textures\Characters\Ren\Hair\RenHair01.dds and saved the mod. When I loaded up the game with the mod activated, my character's hair turned into the Ren hair. So you can do it that way if you want. I'm just not sure how well it'd work since Ren's hair comes in both male and female versions, while the vanilla hair is unisex.
