ordenrahl
I manually installed a couple mods (I can't remember why I didn't use FOMM) and would like to uninstall them so I install updated mods with FOMM. Do I have to do a clean install of FONV or can I just delete the esps or the textures folder etc? One of the mods is FOOk which has loads of files and I have no idea where they are inside the data folder. Thanks, O.
bben46
There is no 'easy' way to uninstall without a mod manager. That is one of the reasons mod managers are popular ways to install mods. :thumbsup:Instead there are recommendations on how to do it without having to reinstall. First, before starting the uninstall (if you can play the game at all) move your character to a safe location. Usually a cell that has not been touched by ANY mod. A vanilla (unmodified) interior cell - inside of a room that has never been modded is good. Then, instead of deleting anything, move it into a new folder outside of the game folder - that way if you remove something that you should have left you will be able to move it back. Usually, there will be a folder inside of the meshes with the name of the mod you want to remove. Move that one.Do the same with Textures and any other folders that the mod added things to.If you are lucky, these will have everything - if not, you may have to dig through the various folders for bits and pieces of the mod - finding them is the hard part, moving them is easy. As long as there is nothing in your game - or recent saves that relies on something from the removed mod you should be OK. If there is something that relies on something from that mod, you will get crashes whenever the game attempts to reference it. Keep going back in saves (if you can) to a point before you installed that mod.
