To New Lands\New Quests in a Airship? Space Station?

Hello all. I am in the process of working on a design document/overview for a mod, and was thinking of throwing it to the community so I can maybe get some feedback, and maybe some help if I need help filling in the gaps. I'm hoping to keep the new content and actual coding to a minimum at all possible, so it's still compatible with most mods.

 

-=What Exactly Is It?=-

It's a primarily a 'Quest' mod. I want to create a 'hub' that is part player/companion home, and a mission entry point. The ideas I'm throwing around are...

Airship

This idea is the most straight forward, but hardly 'lore' friendly. But most of my ideas wont be too 'lore' friendly anyway, so I'm not too worried about it. Perhaps a BoS/Enclave secret project that is located under a city or research facility? I remember seeing an airship mod for FO3, but I'm not sure this is what I want to use. Still, it's the easiest way to explain why you end up in a bunch of different locations. Maybe a floating city? With a few Vertibirds that take you to your mission locations? You get the idea.

 

Space Station

This idea is perhaps the easiest to explain 'lore' wise, but the most impobable considering the level of technology available (but this is a Sci-Fi game, so perhaps it's not so hard to wrap your head around). The idea is a community of scientists were working on ways to explore the solar system. They developed a teleportation, and created a space station to allow for a neutral place for them to conduct their work without interference from the war. Now they need someone to be their field agent, using their multiple locations throughout.

 

I'm also open to other ideas if one seems better fitted to get the player and his companions to different locations.

 

-=What Else Is There?=-

Besides the new 'hub' for the player, I am hoping to create a handful of new fully voiced companions, complete with character specific quests. The only thing I would perhaps need help with would be to the existing companions. I would want to allow you to send the default companions to the hub instead of the Lucky 38. Also, I would like to adjust the companions Idle AI so they actually LIVE in the hub, ie follow schedules, interact with each other, interact with the environment. I'm sure I could look into how to adjust these behaviors, but if someone knows their way around the companion scripts, it would save me the time to learn it all from scratch.

 

I've got the basic idea, and I'm open to suggestions. I have a familiarity with the GECK, so I know how to make stuctures and basic quests, so I can easily do most of the mission creation, etc. I'm in the process right now of writing an overview of the complete mod, and hoping to begin work on the first phase, which would be taking the character from the Mojave to my mods new world, which will either be a new town in Vanilla NV or just a single building. We'll see...

 

Anyway, any thoughts, feedback, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
