XCOM 2 - (Potential Game Bug and a Request for help) Examine the Avatar (SPOILER)

Dear all,

my current campaign that I stream for viewers is modded (so if the situation is a bug, then it is created by a mod and not the vanialla game - just wanted to clear this upfront).

Situation:
=========
I have installed enhancedDarkEvents, which is a mod that adds several meaner dark events. One of which is the early deployment of AVATARS. During the run I killed a few of them and naturally got their corpses.

Problem:
========
One is only allowed to research the AVATAR corpse after all other steps have been completed. HOWEVER, I was on the main-quest step: Hack a codex and already had Avatar corpses. Naturally, I didn't pay enough attention and started to research it. So far, so good.

Now, after the research is done, I had a chance of completing the codex skulljacking, raising the main-quest storyline to the step "complete the avatar autopsy shadow project". This one of course is already completed, because I researched it earlier. And now I am in a bit of a problem.

--> I cannot research it, because it is already reserched.
--> The game doesn't let me progress, because I not finishing the current step.

I tried so far:
- ConsoleCommands (none applies, giveTech AutopsyAvatar doesnt work, AdavnceGameState 1 doesn't seem to have any effect).

Do you have any suggestions of how to fix the situation?

Best regards,
syken

Unfortunately I think your modding has Foo-barred your game.

A mod you used allowed you, to do research out of sequence.

This has broke the Vanilla mechanic, this is a bug, which is created by that mod.

All mods needs to fix the bugs they create.

I have no detailed solution, but I can give a suggestion as to how you approach the issue.

Why I think the attempts above failed, they fix Vanilla, but vanilla isn't broken.

A better approach, is to attempt to fix the current state of your settings (saved data).

Unlearn the previous research, instead of trying to tell the game you know it.

If this can be achieved, It should then work as Vanilla expects it to.

Switching to the opposite approach, is often all that's needed.

{Edit} pure chance I saw this, better posted in the XCOM 2 section

Hi mate,

thank you for the fast answer, much appriciated. I havn't seen the XCOM2 section, maybe a moderator could move it there please.

I tried to follow your suggestion, but I fail to remove the Tech. There is unfortunately no shell-command, which allows to removeTech AutopsyAvatar. I tried to Hex-Edit, but wasn't really successful.

Does anyone have a good idea of how to remove the AvatarAutopsy from the "already researched", so I can continue with the game.

Help is much appriciated.

Best regards,

syken

On the forums you'd follow this path for all games

XCOM 2

Forums for XCOM 2 Nexus.
http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/

Most people stay on Nexus mods, for XCOM 2

Each mods "Posts Tab" is the same as the Forum Thread in the XCOM 2 link I provided.

Problem is Forum formatting, isn't removed or used, so posts carefully made as User guides look a total mess on the posts tab.

Most posts have no formatting, these appear well enough.

So find the Mod Page on Nexus and click on the "Posts Tab"

Then if you prefer the full Forum, a link is shown for the mods own Forum, on the top of the Posts Tab Area

Hello,

thanks for relocating this topic. Could I kindly ask for input/help from the community here. I could share my savegame if that would help.

I am looking for a way to remove the Tech research of the Avatar, to unblock the deadlock described above.

Any suggestions?

Best regards,

syken
