Arkayan
What are you going to name the sword?
loveme4whoiam
Yeah, thats a good question; many a good sword has been overlooked due to a crummy name. My advice (not that anyone asked for it, but hey) to a Elvish name. Pick something you want it to embody, then translate it. It kind of adds a mystique to it, and makes you look really kewl in RP when you say "My sword is called Death". Don't try putting the shield in though; now whenever i hit something i give it a 50pt shield! A very interesting way to make the game more difficult, wonder if that has been suggested on the difficulty thread Wolfron started I suppose so. Freaked me out when i went for a ogrim, hit him expecting him to go to ground, to discover a purple ball surrounding him and a meat tenderiser aimed at my head! :bye:
J316
I ended up making it do 15 fire damage, 15 frost damage and 10 thunder damage. The absorb health took too much enchanting points, and the sword could not take it. I Named it a pretty dumb name "Dai-Katanna of Elemantal Damage". I have another Daidric Dai-Katanna, but I am going to wait to enchant that one until I get a really good idea. Thanx again guys ;)
Limorkil
I've messed with enchanted weapons a lot recently. Here are some things I discovered for myself: 1. Forget Absorb Strength, Agility etc. When you absorb a stat, your own stat is meant to increase, but it never works for me. In fact, I sometimes find that my stats decrease because the effect is reflected (I assume). 2. Nothing annoys me more than the "Item is out of charges" message. I try and keep the cast on strike enchantments relatively low cost so that I can get in a good 100 or more swings before I run out of charges. 3. Constant effects are good if the weapon has enough enchantment points - most don't. I like Fortify Strength, or Restore Health, or Restore Fatigue. 4. Absorb health is the best cast on strike, IMO. Absorb fatigue is also good on a heavy weapon. I wish there was an absorb magicka. 5. I don't bother with damage effects except on weapons that do not do a lot of damage. A dai-katana does enough damage as it is. However, damage is a good thing to add to a short blade weapon or a staff. 6. Paralysis is a very nice effect, but you are in trouble if it gets reflected. 7. (Edit) When you add a second effect, the cost of the first effect is doubled. I assume that if you add a third effect, the cost of the prior two effects is doubled, but I am not sure. Anyway, this means two things: (a) Add the cheapest effect first; (B) Adding multiple effects is expensive - you use up your enchantment points and charges much faster that way.
