joshualerner
Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm also new to game design and am just learning how to use Game Maker just to get used to the basics of how games work, and will start learning C++ soon. I've also printed out the basic tutorials on the Elder Scrolls Construction Set and will work through them to learn modding basics. I've had an idea for a game that was basically something like Morrowind or Oblivion, but with a world that was alterable like Minecraft, so that there was more of an emphasis on exploration and creativity than on completing a main quest. There would still be magic, alchemy, and a number of other elements that I plan on adding. So that's a pretty huge project, and I'm starting from scratch. Therefore, I wanted to start smaller by experimenting with mods that might be able to mimic some of the aspects of Minecraft that I like within Morrowind or Oblivion. But I don't know what limits there are to how far I can modify the game, so I was wondering if people could help me out by telling me if some of the ideas that I have are even possible for mods. These would include - - being able to dig into the terrain and alter its shape- being able to build structures - procedurally generating landscapes It seems to me that mods that allow you to alter the terrain or create structures would be, basically, like adding access to the construction set in-game. Is this kind of thing possible? Thanks, Josh
