Quest Help needed for Mod Newbie

Okay so I have played Oblivion so much I wanted to start trying to create my own adventures. I haven't done anything like this before, but after reading a long list of tutorials and playing with CS a few times I think that I am starting to get the hang of it. As such I sat down and wrote up a quest, and then noted it it going to be a HUGE amount of work. (The summary I wrote up is 12 pages long, and since then I have added 3 pages of dialouge. )

While I know it's going to be a lot of work, I'm hoping that I can do most of it myself (I have already started creating the basic "I'm Expendable NPCs" and am busy fleshing out my major characters, areas, and items, and since I'm not running to a deadline, it doesn't matter if I finish this Christmas or in 2026) but at the same time I realise that I am going to need a hand on one of two things (I'm not an artist at all but I'll need a new object (based on one out of Morrowind), images for a new faction (I might try and mess this up myself  ) and about 4-5 new textures for object recolours.

Having said that, while if someone out there would like to put their hand up to help on those parts right now, that wasn't what I was posting for. What I need right now, well not quite right now, but reasonable soon is an answer to a question.

In part of the quest the character will be wanting a group of people to follow her (him) from point A to point B. The trouble is that they are naked and refuse to go outside in a state of undress. To get them to go with the character the player will have to give them clothing to wear. What I need to know is can I set the coding to accept any clothing (at least a pair of pants and a top,) and then dress them in that item, or do I have to clone items specifically for each of the group and only allow them to receive their own items instead?

I want to do the entire quest so that it will work with a pure install of Oblivion if possible so that people don't need any MOD's to run my quest so I'd prefer to do it directly with the Obivion codex.

Thanks.

Making them wear items shouldn't be a problem. Most NPC's will automatically equipt the "best" items in their inventory. I would like to try making some faction art (for the menus, the different rank images and such) and this could be a could way for me to practice. Whats the faction name? Whats it about and what would go in the art? What are the rank names?

Thanks for the link, however this was one of the "Long list of Tutorials" I noted that I have read. It doesn't answer my specific need. The closest I can see is using a clothing value, but that doesn't necessarily work because a full commoner outfit has a lower GetClothingValue than an upper class top. I want to be able to detect if both a top and pants, or a one piece outfit like a robe or dress has been equipped, but so far all I can do is determine if something (even just a shield) is being "worn". I haven't been able to find what I need yet, which has left the current choice of either doing a HUGE condition list checking every possible item for it being equiped, or using specifically created ones which I'd rather not have to do if possible. So I was hoping someone might be able to point me in thde right direction.

Sypron, thanks. I have sent you a PM.
