wondering if there's a mod for this

Not currently, no. The keyword cap that was limiting the number of menus available has been adjusted, however, which at least allows you to more finely organize your items. If you lack experience doing that type of thing, I am going to imagine that Settlement Keywords will expand its menus to help filter things better for folks that don't know how to do it themselves, and give a general base for the community, so I would keep an eye on that mod going forward. That is a guess on my part, though.

A search functionality would truly be fantastic, actually, so much so that I think I may try to submit it to Bethesda as a possible improvement for the future. I suggest you do the same, can't hurt to try. I am not entirely sure how feasible it is at current, thats beyond my modding abilities at this time, but I feel like that may require extra support from the script extension, if I had to guess. But, I could be way off base there, or it may be impossible currently, I honestly don't know. It is a very good idea though!

How do you 'search' for an object??? Objects are VISUAL entities, and thus have no obvious Human input search criteria.

THIS is why they are held under the CORRECT form of data-structure i.e., the MENU.

Your method ONLY works if you already know the name (label) given to each object. But what happens when you have HUNDREDS of wall objects?

Learn what a MENU is, and when a menu is an APPROPRIATE tree data structure concept for a large number of objects that can be defined by category and sub category!

A better idea will be a mod that shows much more of the menu items at one time so the user screen is optimally used for selection.

Such dismissing. Much condescending. wow.

All buildable items have names, and having a search function for these names would be very cool, and I'd love to have such a function, though it's very far out of my skill set.

I'm not sure if you actually realize this ( some individuals just don't ) but that's not exactly how to go about responding to someone asking a legitimate, very relevant question. I know the inability to portray complex emotions in conversation over the internet is a pain in the ass. Telling someone to learn what a menu is, however doesn't qualify as an excuse. =)

Yikes. I don't feel the question is without merit at all.

Yeah, lots of items currently have similar / same names. That doesn't however dismiss the usefulness of a search feature. Typing in 'wall' would still be faster than navigating back through the menu. And, there are still lots of objects with unique names, that it would save a lot of time.

Whether its a possible feature or not, I have no clue. But doesnt mean its not without merit.
