Weapon Mesh making questions

I have a model of the weapon and I split it up into various parts, grip, barrel, receiver, etc. Do I have to name and save all these parts separately as pieces? Or is there are way to just make one big nif? If so how do I integrate them back together so they will be assembled in the game? Also, will the animations in blender translate all the way through? How would I adjust the speed of firing animations? Or say reloading?
