trying to make a flame trap

Hi,

there's yet another thing I'm working on that I could do with some advice for. At the main entrance to a vault, there's a porch area, to deter unwanted callers, the area can light on fire the moment anything hostile enters it, and stay burning until they leave or vaporise.

 

That's the plan anyway, I started with a script to fire a pair of flamethrowers with an OnTrigger event and a simple timer to prevent spamming, but they were firing constantly even with the room empty. I'm not sure what the best method to use is for this, or much about how triggerboxes work. Any advice?
