soccerstud01
Okay so I downloaded a custom race. Blood Elves by Bella, to be exact. When I'm in the race menu, I can only use certain hairs that came with the race. I downloaded some hairs that I'd like to use with the Blood Elves race, and I was wondering how I could do that? bencebence
You need to edit the esp of the downloaded race with the Construction Set.
soccerstud01
You need to edit the esp of the downloaded race with the Construction Set. I've never really messed with the construction set. Is it hard to do this particular thing?
bencebence
Hmm, not really, Firstly you have to load in Oblivion.esp, the hair's esp and the blood elf esp, and set the last active. Then you just need to open the race and the hair screen, pull the hairs you want from the hair screen to the race screen, and save it.
soccerstud01
Ohh okay. But I don't have an esp for the hairs, I only have the meshes and textures.
bencebence
Then it shall be automaticly in the hair list, I suppose. Just add them to the Data folder.
fg109
If the hairs didn't come with an esp file, they're modders' resources and you'll need to create the hair object yourself. In the Construction Set, open the hair menu, right-click on the list and select to create a new hair. Then for the mesh, you need to browse to the nif file of the hair you downloaded (it has to be in the Oblivion\Data\Meshes directory, or a subfolder of that directory). For the texture, browse to the dds file of the hair you downloaded (it has to be in the Oblivion\Data\Textures directory, or a subfolder of that directory). Checking "Playable" means that it'll be available to the player during character creation (assuming that the hair is available to the race), "Fixed Color" means that the color cannot be adjusted, "Can Be Male" means males can use the hair, and "Can Be Female" means females can use the hair. After you do all that, just do what bencebence said. Drag and drop your new hair into the Hair Styles list in the Body Data tab of your custom race. I actually figured out how to do what you said by accident when I was trying to figure out what to do earlier. I gave you kudos anyways. Thank you so much! Man I wish I would've seen that lol.
