one noob to another ....

want a way to eliminate some problems , not all mind you but some . this wont fix conflict issues or fps due to greedy graphics but it will eliminate some ctds and random freezes , it so simple its unreal .... no one told me this i had to find out the hard way , install fnv to your games folder dont allow fnv to install to programme files (x86) by default as steam tries to do but simply manually select the games folder not only will a steam copy install faster (took my system 45 mins going into x86 before hand , going into games 7 mins and a further 3 mins for the patch ) but the game runs smoother and for the past week i have not had one single ctd , teleport crash fast travel crash or random freeze . now i cant give no guarantees this will work for everyone but i can say with confidence the above is true for me .

i will add however i have bumped up the ram in my pc from 4gb to 6gb and increased vram accordingly and i use fnv4gb enabler .

if you do try this back up your mods save games nvse etc unlike me oops but problems can be caused by corrupted or malformed mods downloads and saved games

if anyone knows this to be wrong / mis informed or even knows better dont hesitate to correct me , just dont be too brutal or il tell my mum ..... so there .

and if theres someone who can tell me why steam invades programme files id be interested to know .

yeah, from what I can gather from reading about that on this forum, the problem comes from UAC. Apparently UAC doesn't affect things that are outside the program files (x86) folder. Currently, I have the quick fix workaround - disabled UAC. Though I don't like doing that so I keep meaning to reinstall to another spot.

well id suggest trying it out just make sure you back up if you so desire , i didnt in my noobie tantrum who know's may of even been beneficial could of had a malformed patch that multiple reinstall's didn't correct or even a bad download defeniately had conflict issue's but the time honoured approach of uncheck all and adding one at a time proved fruitless so in a child like strop i ripped out the hard drive had a friend wipe it clean and started over .

but i just had a freeze after installing ojo buenos texture's too much for my system seem's scripting and quests have little impact where as texture's and mesh's are heavy impact so i learnt something new today .

and just defragged hd agian 27% fragmented after messing about with ojo's even an above average system spec like i got ( probably below spec compared to some people on nexus ) struggles with greedy graphics
