phoenix0113
Hi there! No this isn't a quest mod, although I have some plans to do one down the line, but I need some help with something I thought would be really simple that turns out to be over my head. I like the visual style of the legion that Obsidian was going for, but there are a few key improvements that I think can be made using only vanilla assets. The biggest improvement I wanted to do was to remove the completely opaque goggles from legion headwear. For example, the legion veteran helmet has a sunshade already, why would they need goggles? The goggles IMO take away the human aspect of the legion and adds to the widely held perception that legion in the game are nothing more than simple bad guys to be shot during quests and adventuring, little more than raiders or bandits. Another change I wanted to make was the fact that even though legionaries of old didn't wear anything over their legs from the knees down, the poor character models of New Vegas and the reality of living in an environment with tall cacti would make the notion of not wearing pants seem silly. So, I thought that a simple solution would be to add jeans to all the armors underneath the leather skirts. So here's the brass tacks: how do I go about removing the goggles from the legion headwear? Preferably, I only want to change the meshes so that I don't have to include texture changes into my mod. I checked the headwear in nifskope and the goggles are part of the same branch/block as the rest of the helmets so I can't simply delete them using nifskope. Step two is that a similar nifskope issue arises with the jeans. I want to use the jeans and shoes from the Memphis Kid outfit that the Kings use, but I haven't the faintest idea about how to start. I'm not a modeler/texture artist and am an amateur at best with nifskope, any help would be much appreciated!
